Bio
I am a Senior at Michigan Technological University majoring in Mechanical Engineering.  I am originally from Birmingham, AL (Southern Boy)  born and raised for 18 yrs.  I get the question " How did you end up at Tech?"  all the time.  So I will tell you.  I applied online at www.fastweb.com to several engineering schools and Tech was one of them.  I had plans on attending Georgia Tech because it was a great school and it was close to home.  Unfortunately I didn't get accepted to Georgia Tech, but I did not dwell on it because I had other options.  So, during my Senior year of High School I received many letters saying that I had been accepted from different school but only 2 offering me a Scholarship.  The 2 schools were Tuskegee  University and Michigan Tech.  As I prepared to make my decision between the two, my high school was in the process of having an awards banquet.  To my surprise Michigan Tech sent a recent graduate to my high school and awarded me my scholarship at this banquet.  This totally took me by surprise and won me over and the rest is history.

My college career here at Michigan Tech has not been a cake walk I have been through many ups and downs with the weather, my grades, and many other things.  But threw all the struggles I am still here and strong.  I have joined many organizations:  Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.; National Society of Black Engineers; Mechanical Engineering Student Advisory Committee; Praise In Effect Gospel Choir; and  the Black Student Association.  I have also join the Noise and Vibration Enterprise Program.  I have had leadership roles in many of the organizations.  I have obtained skills in welding, and on various machining shop equipment.  I am proficient in Computer Aid and Design, Matlab, and Microsoft Office.

I am a  God Fearing, hard working individual and strive to be the best at everything that I do.  I love to sing and play sports.  I am a very fun and loving person.
Linkedin Group Post (Rick Peterson, Jennifer Fuller, Daniel Young, Perry E. Wilson Jr.)
The social networking site Linkedin can be very beneficial and is a very useful professional tool. Linkedin can connect people with professionals, companies, and colleagues providing a service that is priceless in today's world. In addition to connecting with the above categories/people, which could lead to job offers or discussion, jobs can be listed and searched for. This is similar to Nacelink in the fact that a profile is set up and you can tailor your search to your interests and your experience. Also, it provides links to both Career Builder and Monster, which are very helpful as a profile is already created for people who want to use those sites.

In regards to the actual profile aspects, Linkedin is not as personal as Facebook, Twitter, or Myspace. The Linkedin profile is much more professional and low risk as the layout is orientated around schools, work experience, and jobs versus picture albums, wall posts, or cyber gifts. This layout provides a sort of 'live' resume that can be constantly updated and viewed at any time. It could also be beneficial to actually have a copy of a resume available online, but Linkedin does not offer this option.

Some things that do relate to other popular social networks include groups and status updates. As a member of Linkedin groups can either be created or joined. The use of these groups can be a very helpful career tool. Companies and alumni associations often create groups and joining to stay connected with these groups can help an individual keep up with current events in their specific field. Status updates are also available on Linkedin and this can directly connect to Twitter and vice versa. Linkedin also has an option to display information regarding a Twitter account, website or blog links, and a biography.

Overall Linkedin is a great social network to be connected to. It provides a plethora of information including groups, news, updates, jobs, and other social connections. It is more of a professional tool than a personal one that can provide an edge in finding a job and staying on top of a certain occupation's events. Join Linkedin, it will not be regretted!
Mission Statement
" To strive to be more like Christ and Successfully Complete my college career at Michigan Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering"

To me "Successfully Complete" means to have a career in place after I obtain my degree.
My Passion
Throughout my life I have always been passionate about singing. When I first started grade school my parents gave me permission to join the school choir. I absolutely loved it. As a 4th grader I received the opportunity to go to Washington D.C. along with other members of the choir from my school and sing on the steps of the Washington Memorial.

Soon after leaving elementary school I begin to sing in the children's choir at my church and the rest is history. I have been singing every since then. When I arrived at Tech, the first time walking into the dorms, two girl overheard me singing while moving my furniture in. They ran up to me and said that should join the gospel choir PIE(Praise in Effect). At first I hesitated because I didn't know them but then agreed to come to a few practices and see how things would go. After my first practice, I was hooked and have been singing with PIE at all type of events at Tech.

Singing is my passion a way for me to express how I feel at that moment and time.
